Development Manager

The Role

  • To develop and train paraplanners with ongoing development needs, and to deliver paraplanner Induction content training as per business requirements
  • To assist in the design, implementation, delivery and recording of individual and group training activity in support of the company objectives and effective conduct of our business.
  • To work with paraplanners with established track records, providing development, coaching and training support to enable them to achieve their highest potential, in terms of sales skills, supervision skills and technical knowledge.
  • To support new entrants to the company in achieving competency and minimising the time taken for new entrants to understand and be able to follow company process and standards and be productive in their roles.
  • Assist in monitoring adherence to company policies and processes and assessing the knowledge and skills of the paraplanner workforce and identifying risks and training needs.  Accountability for business standards remains with the Regional Paraplanner Managers and Head of Paraplanning.


  • Liaise with the Head of Professional Development, the Head of Paraplanning and Regional Paraplanner Managers – and analyse available MI – in order to identify individual and group training needs at a local and national level.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programmes to address national training needs.
  • Assist the Head of Professional Development in the design and implementation of national training programmes and support materials and participate in the delivery of such training.
  • Provide tailored coaching to Paraplanners and Report Writers to assist them in achieving personal and company goals.
  • Co-ordinate and lead the delivery of company induction programmes for Paraplanners and Report Writers to provide a positive introduction to the company for new entrants and effective training in Chase de Vere’s standard processes and practices, such that attendees are able to be signed off induction ready to attend their office.
  • Co-ordinate and lead the delivery of knowledge and skills training for Paraplanners and Report Writers until they are deemed to be competent, in order to maximise their contribution to the business and increase productivity.
  • Assist the Regional Paraplanner Managers in the review Suitability Reports and research documents to identify training needs to deliver the highest standards of compliance and client experience.
  • Assist Development Managers in the delivery of training, with a view to demonstrating the relationship between company initiatives and the practical application to Suitability Reports. This will include supporting the Technical Development Manager in the delivery of technical training
  • Assist the Regional Paraplanner Managers and – and other colleagues, where relevant – in maintaining robust development plans and training records.
  • Report any emerging or crystallised risks to the Head of Professional Development.
  • Demonstrate best practice in the field, in accordance with the company’s objectives, policies and standards.
  • Support Paraplanners and Report Writers in the completion and recording of CPD and company-mandated proficiency testing, to ensure they achieve and maintain standards of best practice.
  • Under the direction of the Head of Professional Development, ensure company resource is employed efficiently. This may include participating in the delivery of training activity outside of local sphere of responsibility.
  • Attend local team / department meetings to ensure understanding of team objectives, priorities and issues.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of training elements in such meetings.
  • Provide absence cover for fellow Development Managers as required.

Skills & Experience



  • Modules towards Certificate in Paraplanning (or equivalent)


  • Certificate in Paraplanning (or equivalent)
  • Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or equivalent)




  • Experience of working in a regulated Financial Services environment.
  • Experience in the construction of financial planning advice, either in an advisory, paraplanning or research capacity;
  • Experience in the construction of client-facing Suitability Reports


  • Experience of coaching individuals and providing feedback
  • Experience of providing skills-based coaching
  • Experience in the identification of training needs
  • Experience in the design and implementation of training programmes and supporting documentation
  • Experience in the delivery of training
