Well done to Caroline Waters, our Head of Professional Partnerships, Chloe Marchant, Business Development Manager, and Kayliegh Kingsley, who is a Business Development Consultant, who used a Chase de Vere volunteering day to help a charity called The Cowshed, which is based in Wokingham.
The Chase de Vere volunteering policy allows our employees to take time off work, for which they are paid, to offer their time and skills to work in their local communities or support charities.
The Cowshed is a charity which supports people during times of personal crisis. This could be those escaping domestic abuse and families experiencing emergency rehousing to those affected by health-related poverty, homelessness, or emergency custody situations. They offer good quality, cleaned, and ironed clothes and essential items, which are free of charge.
They do more than just providing clothing. They understand that receiving support during challenging times should feel like a gift rather than a handout and they prioritise providing supplies that are not only practical but make their clients feel valued and cared for. They have a school uniform area, a Prom Shop and underwear fitting services to ensure no child feels different or segregated from their peers.
Caroline, Chloe and Kayliegh worked on relocating their dress sale area. They cleared two storerooms, moved and housed all the accessories and sorted dresses and outfits into different categories and sizes.
Caroline says, “It was exhausting as there were no lifts, and we had to carry everything upstairs but really rewarding and we will be going back to support them again. They are such an amazing group of people, dedicating so much time and helping families to ensure that no-one goes without. I was especially touched with the effort they go to with their Prom Shop for both boys and girls and the school shop is incredible. It’s a brilliant set up.”
